"E" is for Additives

This page is for people living or traveling outside the United States. Product ingredient labels may be incomplete or misleading. Check with manufacturers if possible. The following may contain hidden additives:
  • Vitamin A (palmitate) (can have BHT,BHA or TBHQ = E321, E320, E319)
  • Oil (same as above)
  • Concentrates
  • Flavoring (may be artificial flavoring, made of hundreds of chemical compounds.)
  • Natural Flavoring (may contain salicylates or MSG (E621))
Note: Vanillin is an artificial flavoring. It may also be called "Vanilla flavoring." Look for "Pure vanilla."
